Monosodium phosphate ( MSP ) , also known as monobasic sodium phosphate and sodium dihydrogen phosphate , is an inorganic compound of sodium with a dihydrogen phosphate ( h2p04- ) anion.



In the food industry, it is used as a quality improver, pH regulator, buffer, emulsifying and dispersing agent, nutritional supplement and moisture retaining agent. It is mainly used in cheese, beverage, jelly, ice cream, tomato sauce, luncheon meat and meat pickled products, and also as a modified starch additive.

Monosodium Phosphate (MSP) is used as a buffering agent for a wide array of products. It is also used to control pH in water treatment applications.



Disodium Phosphate (DSP) is used as a pH buffer, stabilizer, and emulsifier in processed cheese, condensed milk, instant pudding, and other food applications. This ingredient is also used as a buffering agent in textile and water treatment applications.



Trisodium Phosphate (TSP) can be used as an emulsifier for processed cheese and condensed milk. It is also used as a precipitating agent, sequestrant, and softener in water treatment and sanitation.
